In a written statement from the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), it was stated, “As part of CENTCOM’s mission in response to the increased unsafe and unprofessional behavior of Russian aircraft in the region, the U.S. Air Force has deployed F-22 fighter jets as part of the multifaceted support and capabilities of the United States.”
CENTCOM Commander General Michael Kurilla, whose views were included in the statement, assessed, “The unsafe and unprofessional actions of Russian forces are not the actions expected from a professional air force. Their continuous violations of measures intended to prevent conflicts in designated flight areas increase the risk of tension or miscalculation.”
