Bill Gates announced on his personal Twitter account that he visited Beijing for the first time since 2019 to conduct meetings representing his foundation, which works on global health and development issues.

During his visit, Gates mentioned that he would meet with the partners that the Gates Foundation has been working with in China for 15 years. He emphasized that China has successful experiences in many areas, ranging from the development of malaria drugs to combating climate change, and that more people worldwide should benefit from these advancements.

Gates pointed out the need for technological innovations to address global challenges such as climate change, inequality in access to healthcare, and food security. He highlighted that significant progress has been made in reducing poverty and child deaths worldwide, but global crises have eroded these gains in these areas.

Gates drew attention to the fragile situation of African countries due to high food prices, debts, and increases in diseases such as tuberculosis and malaria. Therefore, he noted that his next destination after the visit to China would be West Africa.
